Book Review: Narrating Nature: Wildlife Conservation and Maasai Ways of Knowing

  • 1. ROR icon University of Bayreuth

Description

This review is not only relevant but also timely following the most recent evictions of the Maasai from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) in Tanzania on conservation grounds. The book is an attempt to show why and how to decolonise conservation in ways that do justice to the marginalised and their worlds.  I provide a grounded review and critique to assumed knowledge that inscribes the West as the "Seeing Eye".
