Description

The coffin ensemble of the fleet commander Jdy probably stems from the 12th dynasty and thus dates to the Middle Kingdom. The place of origin is not exactly known, but most likely comes from the necropolis in Asyut.

The box coffin is colorfully decorated on the outside as well as the inside and has various decorative elements and texts. In addition to offering formulas, a "frise d'objets" and many other inscriptions such as several coffin texts. A special decorative element is the diagonal star clock on the underside of the lid, which is almost completely preserved.
